Description
We are currently designing the house located in the suburbs of Yokohama
City. The site is situated on the hill side being turned into series
of housing lots along with the huge housing land developments taking
place in this area. This kind of landscape is now becoming common
sights in the typical Japanese Suburbs. The surrounding houses are
sitting quite indifferently on the existing parking garage and the
retaining walls pre-provided on each housing lots. Our design approach
was to seek the new relationship between the new house and these existing
structures.
We placed 1st floor on the existing structure keeping its height
as low as possible so that these structures will also become the parts
of the design elements. The 2nd floor is elevated from the lower volume
while it is being set back from the adjacent streets. It enable to
obtain the clear view from 2nd floor living room and also to create
various spaces inside as well as outside of the house.
